About Demir Kapija
Demir Kapija means Iron Gate. Here the Vardar river cuts a narrow gorge through limestone, and its 16 sectors hold more than 200 routes from easy to very hard, including multi-pitch lines up to 250 m.
It is one of the warmest places in Macedonia. That makes summer days tough, but climbing often stays good in late autumn and on sunny winter days.

No experience needed. Your instructor sets up the rope, teaches you the knots and the belay, and climbs with you on easy routes.

Is Demir Kapija suitable for beginners?
Yes. Next to the hard routes there are easy ones, and your instructor picks them for you.
When is the best time to go?
From autumn to spring. Summer is very hot, so in July and August we only climb early in the morning or in the shade.
How do we get there?
It is about an hour from Skopje on the motorway. We can arrange transport.
